New Producer paid placement
Conic is pleased to be a host organisation for Film Hub Scotland’s 2026 New Producers Scheme, a paid training programme for people who’d like to develop their skills in curating, promoting and delivering film events for audiences across Scotland.
The Scheme aims to support emerging film event producers, marketers and curators from backgrounds currently under-represented in the sector. Through practical experience, training and professional development, Film Hub Scotland hopes to help address barriers to entering and progressing. No previous film experience or academic qualifications are required – just a passion for cinema and an interest in working in the film industry.
About the placement

Conic is a Glasgow-based UK and Irish film distributor championing bold, distinctive cinema from both Scotland and around the world. Founded in 2022, we release around 8-10 films each year across the UK and Ireland.
As a small, hands-on team, we work across every aspect of film distribution: acquiring films, building campaigns, organising theatrical releases, supporting festivals and events, and finding creative ways to connect great films with audiences. Upcoming releases within the dates of this placement include The Education of Jane Cumming, Low Expectations, The History of Concrete, Isabel and other titles still to be announced. Case 137 and American Doctor will still be in cinemas.
We are looking for a New Producer who is excited by independent cinema and interested in learning how films reach audiences. Working closely with the Conic team, you'll gain practical experience across marketing, events, awards campaigns, outreach and more. This placement offers a unique opportunity to see the full journey of a film from festivals to home entertainment while making a meaningful contribution to film releases. During the placement, the New Producer will have the opportunity to:
Support the theatrical campaigns for upcoming Conic releases.
Help develop grassroots audience engagement and outreach activity.
Assist with special screenings, Q&As and event planning.
Gain experience of awards campaigning and industry screenings.
Work on non-theatrical and community exhibition projects.
Develop and lead ideas of their own, tailored to their interests and ambitions.
As a small organisation, we can offer close mentorship, genuine responsibility and insight into every stage of film distribution. We are looking for someone keen to build skills, confidence and industry connections.
